Help locals living with breast cancer

Breast cancer is the second most common cause of death for women, as well as the most common type of cancer discovered in women.

According to Center for Disease Control (CDC) data, in 2016, the latest year for which incidence data are available, 245,299 new cases of female breast cancer were reported in the nation, and 41,487 women died. For every 100,000 women, 124 new cases were reported and 20 died of cancer. In Louisiana that year, 3,494 breast cancer cases were reported to the CDC. In Jeff Davis Parish, there were 96 new cases.

Sure, I could write about impeachment again this week, and probably for countless weeks to come. But I think we all could use a diversion, what with the 24/7 news coverage, analysis and editorializing that passes for news coverage. It makes you wonder if the earth is still turning on its axis.

Those of us here in the suburbs will be able to just hop on the train and schedule a nice overnight stay in what promises to be attractive accommodations. Among the expected amenities will be clean, lighted areas where one can shoot up in peace, consultations with counselors and rehab specialists and, in the event that you get too carried away, plentiful Narcan to reverse the unfortunate but not totally unexpected overdose.

Evan Joubert showed his versatility Friday night, scoring three touchdowns in a 41-21 district win over the Jennings Bulldogs. Joubert scored on the Saints’ second possession from 67 yards out. Trevor Etienne would answer on the Bulldogs 11 play drive from five yards out to tie the game 7-7.

Cooper Miller wouldn’t waste time to answer, tossing a 63-yard touchdown pass to Chase Wilson three plays later. Joubert added his second touchdown in the second to put the Saints up 21-7.

Saints RB Kamara questionable vs Jaguars

METAIRIE (AP) — The New Orleans Saints have listed running back Alvin Kamara as questionable for Sunday’s game in Jacksonville because of an ankle injury that limited his practice time on Thursday and sidelined him entirely from practice on Friday.

Kamara, who routinely catches passes out of the backfield and also lines up at times as a receiver, has 583 yards and two touchdowns from scrimmage for New Orleans (4-1). He’s rushed 75 times for 342 yards and one TD.
