Dear Editor,

I was very happy to see several churches working together in the recovery efforts.

We all need God and we are different all over this world in our beliefs of Him.

I’ve seen preachers’ sons venture into things that are not in line of their dads’ sermons then later in life change into a minister themselves when they realize the truth of the Gospel for themselves.

We all have different views, even in a car collision.

Politics permeates social media. It’s a place where candidates campaign and individuals and groups share their endorsements and views.

However, I have noticed a troubling trend that I feel inevitably affects election outcomes: People will believe anything you put on social media regarding voting, politics and candidates without worrying if that information has been properly sourced.

October proclaimed Alpha Delta Kappa Month

Alpha Delta Kappa is an international honorary organization of women educators dedicated to educational excellence, altruism and world understanding. Our purposes are:

• To give recognition to outstanding educators.

• To build fraternal fellowship among women in the field of education, which will add to their effectiveness in the promotion of excellence in education.

Halloween is a day many people, including adults and children, eagerly anticipate. Steeped in tradition, Halloween is a day that’s always good for a scare and, of course, some candy.

Many Halloween traditions are rooted in customs from the ancient Celtic festival of Samhain. Samhain marked the end of the summer harvest and the beginning of the cold winter. Celts believed that the boundary between the world of the living and the dead was permeable on the night before the new year, when it was possible for ghosts to return and wreak havoc.

Ka’Mauri Harrison bill passes Senate

On Thursday, the state senate joined the house in unanimously approving the Ka’Mauri Harrison Act.

The bill aims to provide policy changes for virtual learning.

Fourth grader Ka’Mauri Harrison was taking a virtual assessment in September when his younger brother tripped over a BB gun in his bedroom. Jefferson Parish Public Schools then suspended him for six days for handling the gun.

District 37 State Representative Troy Romero said he was proud to sponsor this bill.
