The Epworth League of the M.E. church of Jennings planned a deeplaid scheme and carried it out to perfection on Monday night. As a result, their retiring pastor, Rev. L.W. Elkins was caught napping and greatly surprised when a large company came bounding into the parsonage. One of those never-to-be-forgotten evenings was passed, an evening which is an oasis in life's desert of barren sands — a beautiful picture, worthy to be suspended on the walls of memory's temple. In a few well-chosen words on behalf of the League, Elkins was presented with a beautiful album.

Hunters and non-hunters alike are familiar with bright orange coats, hats, vests, and other gear that is worn during hunting season. Even though it seems counterintuitive to wear “blaze orange” in the fields or woods for fear that animals may spot you, hunters need not worry so much. Deer typically cannot recognize blaze orange attire designed to make hunters visible to other people. According to researchers at the University of Georgia, a combination of factors make deer less likely to be startled by blaze orange. Deer have less binocular overlap than humans.
