WASHINGTON (AP) — The number of Americans seeking unemployment benefits moved up last week to 332,000 from a pandemic low, a sign that the spread of the delta variant may have slightly increased layoffs.
Acting United States Attorney Alexander C. Van Hook announced that Kevin M. Berken, 60, of Lake Arthur, Louisiana, has been sentenced by Magistrate Judge Kathleen Kay for violating the Migratory Bird Treaty Act. Berken was sentenced to two years of probation, ordered to pay a fine of $5,000 and all of his hunting, fishing and trapping privileges have been revoked for the twoyear term of probation, according to the U.S. Department of Justice.

The Jennings Bulldogs will look to get into the win column tonight when they return to the friendly confines of Jerry Simmons Stadium. The Dogs will be entertaining the longtime rival DeRidder Dragons for the 61st time in their long played series. The Bulldogs have won 43 in the whole series, while dropping 16 contests and the two have tied once.
