WELSH — The Welsh Greyhounds opened district 5-2A play on the right foot this week by topping the Grand Lake Hornets by a final of 66-53 at Greyhound Gymnasium. The Hounds are currently sitting at No. 6 in the latest Division IV non-select power ratings and upped their overall mark to 9-8 on the season, 1-0 in league play. The Hounds were back in action Friday night when they took on the DeQuincy Tigers in another district showdown. Welsh put a trio of players in double figures in their win over the Hornets, led by Jonavon Begnaud’s 18 big tallies.
