LA preteen glow-up social scheduled

LAKE ARTHUR — A spring glow-up social has been scheduled for preteens in the town and its surrounding areas.

Lady Dogs fall late to LaGrange, 50-40

The Jennings Lady Bulldogs basketball team traveled to play the LaGrange Lady Gators in the regional round of the playoffs Monday night. The No. 21 Lady Dogs were looking to get an upset win over the No. 5 Lady Gators.

LAKE ARTHUR — The No. 3-ranked Lake Arthur High Lady Tigers hosted the No.14-ranked Mangham High Lady Dragons in the Regional round of the Division IV 2024 LHSAA Girls’ playoffs at “Nookie” Moore Gymnasium Monday night. With a huge 48-point win over the Lady Dragons, Lake Arthur advances to the Quarter Finals with a final score of 71-23.

Lady Hornets advance past Hornbeck, 66-42

HATHAWAY — The No.7-ranked Hathaway Lady Hornets made it two in a row in the playoffs by toppling the No. 10 Hornbeck Lady Hornets by a final of 66-42 from Charles F. Groth Gymnasium Monday night. The win advances the Lady Hornets into the quarterfinal round of the LHSAA Division V non-select bracket where they will square off with old nemesis Fairview. The two teams have met this season, with the Fairview claiming victories. However, it was just a season ago that the Lady Hornets took down the Lady Panthers for a state championship.

Charity cookoff event set

LAKE CHARLES — United Way of Southwest Louisiana’s 3rd Annual Battle for the Paddle cookoff event is set for Thursday, March 14 at the Lake Charles Civic Center Amphitheatre, located at 1111 Bord du Lac Dr. The event will begin at 5 p.m. and feature a cookoff competition between more than 20 teams who will prepare jambalaya and pasta-laya for public taste testing.
