1926, Louis Miller , age about 43, said to be an employee of the Lake Arthur Hunting Club, was arrested last Thursday night by officers from the sheriff’s office and lodged in the parish jail charged with the possession and sale of intoxicating liquor for beverage purposes and also with carrying concealed weapons, a gun had been found on him when arrested.

The Jefferson Davis Republican Women were joined by the LSUE senior nursing students to bring valentines and cookies to the veterans at the Southwest Louisiana War Veterans Home, on Friday, February 16. This is the annual valentines project for the JDRW, and a community service project for the students. They gathered earlier in the day to assemble the bags of cookies, and students from Jennings Elementary School and the student nurses provided the valentines. Both groups enjoyed the event as much as the veterans did.
