As the start of school is happening today across Jeff Davis Parish, Louisiana State Police would like to emphasize the importance of safety in school zones, when driving near school buses and while transporting children. All motorists must remain vigilant and adhere to the rules of the road to safeguard the well-being of drivers and young students.

Partial closure scheduled for I-10

Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development officials announce a partial closure on the interstate from the Jennings/Evangeline exit to the Cankton/Scott exit this weekend. The inside left lanes of I-10 eastbound and westbound from Exit 65 – La. 97 to Exit 97 – La. 93 will be closed for a herbicide application from 8 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 9 until 6 a.m. on Saturday, Aug. 10, barring any inclement weather. Withtheclosure,DOTDofficialswarnpermitandoversized load drivers and emergency vehicles may encounter delays. However, these vehicles will be permitted to pass. DOTD officials appreciate motorists’ patience during lane closures. Additionally, motorists are reminded to use caution throughout the work zone and always be on the lookout for work crews and equipment.

Coalition fights Treasury claim that certain banking policies are security threat
