HATHAWAY — There are high school students all over the state who play multiple sports and maintain high gradepoint- averages, but it would be tough to find one individual who competes in five and has maintained a perfect 4.0. In Jeff Davis Parish, one would have to look no further than right down the road in Hathaway (HHS) to seek out Andrew Nguyen. The senior holds down letters in five different athletic events at HHS and has always continued to strive in the classroom since stepping foot in the school as a youngster. Nguyen competes, and excels, in basketball, tennis, track and field, swim and baseball. Despite the rigors of juggling both, Nguyen mentioned that maintaining his superlative grade point average has been the biggest obstacle he has overcome in his time as an athlete.
