No.5 Cards survive furious Starks rally, 56-54

LACASSINE – After defeating Starks High School by nearly 50 points in a previous tournament, the Panthers rolled into Lacassine with upset on their minds. However, the No.5-ranked Lacassine Cardinals (LHS) had other plans, and fended off the feisty Panthers by a final of 56-54.

‘The Big Three’ strike again

KAPLAN – The Lake Arthur Lady Tigers kept their win streak alive by pounding the Kaplan Pirates for the second tine this week. “The Big Three” of Kali Hornsby, Vivian Sketoe and Darrah Broussard combined for 51 of the Lady Tigers’ 62 points in their dominating 62-17 victory. With the win, The No.5 Lady Tigers up their record to 11-4 overall. The Tigers did battle with the Grand Lake Lady Hornets Tuesday night in a non-district tilt at “Nookie” Moore Gymnasium.

LACASSINE – The Lacassine Cardinals (LHS) put on a shooting display here at John Juneau Memorial Gymnasium by burying 11 3-pointers en route to a 75-34 win over Starks Monday night. LHS used another big outing by Sydnie Cooley, who followed up a recent 30-point performance with 28 more in the 21-point win over their guests. With the win, the No.10 Lady Cardinals upped their overall mark to 11-9 overall.

Balanced scoring attack leads Hounds over Kinder

KINDER – The Welsh Greyhounds used a plethora of scoring in their 77-66 road win over the Kinder Yellow Jackets Monday night. Coach Caleb Gary’s squad placed five players in double figures, and upped their overall mark to 5-6 on the season. The Hounds raced out to a 44-29 lead at the intermission, but with stood a ferocious Kinder rally in the third quarter to claim the 11-point win. The combination of J.J. Artis, LaTroy Pattum, Jode Janise, Jonovan Begnaud and Cale Navarre all hit for double figures in the Welsh victory.
