CROWLEY – The Crowley Millers won their second game in as many days Tuesday night, as they pitched another shutout, this time a 6-0 win over Peabody-based Alexandria. The Millers shutout the Beau Chene Gators 8-0 Monday night, and used another dominant mound performance to throw up another goose egg against the Warhorses. The Millers used two Jeff Davis Parish arms to combine on a three-hit shutout in moving their overall mark to 5-1.

CROWLEY – The Crowley Millers moved to 4-1 Monday night with an 8-0 shutout over the Beau Chene Gators at Miller Stadium. The Millers got back on the winning track following their first loss of the season last week against their district foe in the Opelousas Indians.

ELTON – Heading into the second year of the Donnie Bruchhaus regime in Elton, a host of new faces will grace the sidelines and playing field for the Indians. Although Bruchhaus said the names on paper may not be as attractive as they have been in the past, the second-year Head Coach explained he’s excited at what he’s seen so far heading into summer workouts, and eventually into fall camp.

Jennings Bronco All-Stars grab third-place finish in Rayne Tourney

RAYNE – The Jennings Bronco All-Stars turned in a third-place performance at the annual Frog City PONY Tune-Up Tournament this past weekend. The Jennings Stars blasted Crowley 13-6 and Broussard 15-0 in Pool Play games on Saturday to advance into bracket play on Sunday. Jennings again hammered Crowley 11-3 in the first game, but fell to Kaplan in the semi-finals by a count of 6-4.

Strong finish not enough for Woods at US Open

PEBBLE BEACH, Calif. (AP) — The crowd was roaring, the birdies were dropping and Tiger Woods looked like his vintage self for the final 12 holes of the U.S. Open.

The problem for Woods was what happened on the first 60 holes.

Woods salvaged an otherwise disappointing weekend at Pebble Beach by birdieing six of his final 12 holes Sunday to finish the tournament at 2-under par, far behind the top contenders on a weekend made for low scores.

Millers drop tough one to Opelousas

CROWLEY – The Crowley Millers had their three-game win streak snapped Thursday night by a tough Opelousas Indians squad at Miller Stadium by a final of 8-5 to open district play. The Indians used a three-spot in the top of the second inning, followed by a pair of two-run innings in the fourth and fifth frames to claim the victory over the home standing Millers.

With the loss, the Millers fell to 3-1 overall, 0-1 in district play.

DERIDDER – The Crowley Millers American Legion Team moved to 3-0 Tuesday night with a 10-5 win over a scrappy team from DeRidder. Once again, it was a plethora of Jeff Davis Parish players who helped the Millers to victory over their scrappy Dragon opponents. The Millers will now return to the friendly confines of Historic Miller Stadium today when they welcome district rival Abbeville into town.

The game stayed close all the way until the fifth frame, but the Miller bats blew things open to claim their third win of the season.
