AP source: Derek Carr turns down trade offer to Saints

LAS VEGAS (AP) — Quarterback Derek Carr turned down a trade offer from the Las Vegas Raiders to the New Orleans Saints, a person with knowledge of the decision said Sunday.

Bulldogs shock No. 8 Greyhounds

Wednesday night, the Jennings High Bulldogs (6-22, 2-8) hosted the Welsh High Greyhounds (18-9, 7-1) in a non-district competition. The Bulldogs came into the contest as the underdogs as they currently sit No. 35 in the power rankings while the Greyhounds hold the No. 8 spot. The action-packed game had fans in the bleachers on both sides of the court on their feet as the Jennings Bulldogs pulled off a huge upset with a second half comeback win over the Hounds. The Bulldogs left the hardwood with an 11-point advantage for a final score of 67-56.

HATHAWAY – Earlier this week, another Jeff Davis Parish (JDP) athlete became among the elite few to be recognized for excellence. In Monday night’s game against Plainview, Hathaway High Lady Hornet Lamiyah Sanchez let loose of the ball sending it enroute to the goal and as it swished through the net, her high school career total points rang up to the 1800 mark.

Lady Tigers claim district crown with 57-24 destruction of DeQuincy

LAKE ARTHUR — The Lake Arthur Lady Tigers took down the DeQuincy Lady Tigers on the road Tuesday night and handed their feline counterparts a 57-24 beat down b y the final of 57-24. The victory not only lifted the Lady Tigers to 17-10 overall, it allowed the club to wrap up the outright 6-2A district championship in the process. The Lady Tigers have reeled off seven straight league wins to stay unbeaten in district play, and will play their season finale Friday night at home against Vinton. The Lady Tigers again used a big night from junior sensation Vivian Sketoe, as she poured in 22 points and handed out numerous assists.

Cards scratch out another league win, 58-49, over Midland

MIDLAND — The Lacassine High Cardinals made the short trek to Midland Tuesday night to meet with the Midland High Rebels in a district contest by final of 58-49.. The Cardinals would lead from start to finish in the battle and leave the hardwood with the win moving to 24-10, 8-1 while the Rebels fell to 10-21, 2-7.
