ELTON — In a nondistrict competition, the Elton High Indians (13-8) hosted the Mamou Green Demons (9-10) on Tuesday night at Ortis Guidry Gymnasium. After a hardfought battle, the Indians came up just three points short as the Green Demons took the 55-52 win. The Indians put up a big fourth quarter effort and came within striking distance however, the clock ran out on them.

Lady Indians surge past Mamou, 43-21

ELTON — The Elton High Lady Indians (1011) hosted the Mamou High Lady Green Demons (9-8) on Tuesday night at Oris Guidry Gymnasium in a non-district contest. The Lady Indians broke a four-game losing streak with a strong first half performance that cinched the 43-21 win over the Lady Demons The Lady Indian offense dominated the hardwood with 18 points in the first quarter of the contest while their defensive attack held the Lady Demons back, allowing them only two points. Jamarsha LaComb led the first quarter charge scoring six points for the Lady Indians. Kayilah Guillory pitched in four points with a pair of baskets. Laylah Fontenot and Brianna Laughlin each chipped in three points while Kharington Thomas added two more.

WELSH — The Welsh Greyhounds picked up a big non-district win Tuesday night when they polished off parish rival Hathaway by a final of 85-72. The No. 4-ranked Hounds moved to 9-6 overall following the win, while the Hornets fell to 4-15 overall. The Hounds placed four players in double figures in their win, led by J.J. Artis’ 22-point outing. Wyatt Naquin led the Hornets with his game-high 24 tallies. After holding the lead at the end of the first quarter, Hathaway would see the Hounds begin to get comfortable shooting the basketball and would never trail again the rest of the way in the contest.

WELSH — The Hathaway Lady Hornets made it four wins in a row Tuesday night by toppling the Welsh Lady Greyhoundsbyafinalof81-24 at Greyhound Gymnasium. Hathaway placed four players in double figures in the victory, however freshman Sienna Guidry put up a monster night to lead the way. Guidry buried nine 3-point buckets in scoring her gamehigh 29 points. The Lady Hornets were able to knock down 14 trifecta’s in the contest. The Win moved the No. 2-ranked Lady Hornets to 19-4, while the Lady Hounds dropped to 6-16 on the season.

Lady Tors hold down Lake Arthur, 49-37

SULPHUR — The Lake Arthur Lady Tigers made the short trip to Sulphur on Tuesday to do battle with the 5A Lady Tornadoes. Though putting up a valiant effort, the Lady Tigers dropped a 49-37 decision. The loss drops the Lady Tigers to 10-9 overall, while Sulphur improved to 13-5 with the win. The Lady Tigers will be back in action on Friday when they travel to Church Point to take on the Lady Bears.
