LEXINGTON, Ky. (AP) — Keion Brooks Jr. had 13 of his seasonhigh 15 points in the first half, Brandon Boston Jr. added 13 of his 18 points in the second half, and Kentucky trailed for just 15 seconds in its 82-69 win over LSU 82-69 on Saturday night to snap a three-game skid.

BATON ROUGE - Tonea Marshall, a senior on the LSU track and field team, opened her 2021 season with a world leading time of 7.86 seconds in the 60 meter hurdles on Sunday at the Randal Tyson Track Center in Fayetteville, Arkansas.

Fantasy sports betting could begin this spring

BATON ROUGE (AP) – Businesses that want to operate fantasy sports betting in the 47 Louisiana parishes that approved it two years ago can start applying in February, under action by the state gambling board Thursday.

The Louisiana Gaming Control Board adopted the final regulations and licensing application needed for the online cash prize competitions to start later this year, as early as April or May.

ELTON - The town of Elton hasn’t had much to cheer about since the beginning of August due to a number of things such as the cancellation of football season and an outbreak of the Covid-19 virus. The town’s beloved football program dates back to the 1960’s, and has been almost as consistent to the farming community as the rice it has always produced. However, with all of the adversity in the past year, the Elton Indians basketball team has been a ray of hope for the small town.

LAKE ARTHUR - The No.1- ranked Lake Arthur Lady Tigers kept their wheels spinning Tuesday night by throttling district 6-2A foe Welsh by a final of 72-31 at “Nookie” Moore Gymnasium on Senior Night. Coach Vickie Sketoe honored Miya Breaux, Katherine Leonards, Deonna Brister and Brooke Daboval for their efforts to continue the success of Lady Tigers’ basketball. Leonards responded by having her best game as a Lady Tiger in the win, pouring in 23 points and landing five 3-point jumpers. As a team, the Lady Tigers drilled 11 from beyond the arc, and placed three in double-figures in the scoring column.

Hounds roll past Tigers 64-37 in 6-2A play

LAKE ARTHUR - In the nightcap of Tuesday’s 6-2A battle, the Welsh Greyhounds toppled the Lake Arthur Tigers by a final of 64-37. The win moved the Hounds to 6-10 overall and 1-1 in league play. Welsh put three players in double figures, led by Cale Navarre’s 17-point outburst.
