SULPHUR - The Jennings Lady Bulldogs pushed their winning streak to five games Thursday night by defeating 5A Sulphur 60-58 in a thriller on the road. The Lady Dogs pushed their way out to a commanding first-half lead, then fought off a huge second-half surge by the Lady Tors to claim the win. With the victory, Jennings improved their record to 14-2, while Sulphur fell to 10-11.

WELSH - For three quarters of basketball here at Greyhound Gymnasium, the Lacassine Cardinals trailed the host Welsh Greyhounds. However, a huge fourth quarter and a late free throw by Ethan Corkran with seconds left preserved the Cards with a thrilling 64-62 win. Trailing 45-39 heading into the fourth quarter, the Cardinals out-gunned the Hounds 25-17 to edge out the come-from-behind victory to improve to 9-5 overall on the season. Following the disappointing loss, Welsh dropped to 4-7 overall on the year.

SULPHUR - The Lake Arthur Lady Tigers (LA) kept up their winning ways Tuesday night, as they traveled to Sulphur to take on the 5A Golden Tors. The Tigers used a dominant 28-point performance by Deonna Brister in the win, and also saw Kali Hornsby score her 1,000th career point in the 63-36 win over Sulphur. With the win, the Lady Tigers pushed their overall record to 18-2.

The Jennings Lady Bulldogs came into Tuesday night’s contest with Welsh riding high following a 72- 22 destruction of David Thibodeaux Academy Monday night. However, a fiesty group of Lady Hounds showed up and pushed the Lady Dogs to the limit. Jennings claimed a 53-47 victory over their parish rival at Gaudet Gymnasium, and moved their overall mark to 13-2 on the season. With the loss, Welsh fell to 6-12 on the year. The game was a tale of two big guns, as Jennings’ Jill Fontenot and Welsh’s Ariyon Artis. However, Fontenot and the Lady Dogs would just muster enough to escape the upset.
