Cornbread and turnip greens, plenty of meat and strong drip coffee, and Southwest Louisiana sunshine form a combination that promotes old age, according to Aunt Louise" Fox, who was 99 years of age Christmas Day, and claims the honor of being Jeff Davis Parish's oldest taxpayer.
"What do you eat, Auntie?" inquired a member of the city force Wednesday morning at the mayor's office, as the aged woman paid her taxes.
"Honey, I eat anything I can get and I like my meat and coffee," she said. "I ain't good-for-nothing yet; I do all my house work and cooking and I sleep fine"
