Grandmother gets letter from British queen

JEFF DAVIS PARISH NEWS June 12, 1941 A story in the Beaumont Enterprise of a 91-year-old great- great- grandmother receiving a letter from England's queen was of great interest in Jennings. Mrs. D. R. Weyand, of Dallas, who received the treasured letter is the grandmother of Mrs. O.H. Clary of this city.

Charity at Christmas

For one thing, mother had gone to bed with a sharp neuralgic attack that somehow was becoming, of late, a too frequent occurrence. Another was that father had just given them their Christmas allowance, for it was the 18th of November, and they had already begun to plan for a great day.

VIETNAM BOMBING HALT

NOVEMBER 1968 - SAIGON (UPI) - The Siagon Government said today it “did not oppose” the Vietnam bombing halt but saw no material reason for it. The half-hearted approval came a full 11 hours after President Johnson announced the halt in Washington. One official said at noon the United States unilaterally took the decision to stop the bombing over the entire territory of North Vietnam.” The word “unilateral” indicated President Nguygen Van Thieu did not approve of the halt.
