AgCenter field day expo offers new forum for ag info

WINNSBORO — The LSU AgCenter hosted its first-ever field day expo on June 19 in Winnsboro, expanding the concept of a traditional row crop field day to include information on horticulture programs, wildlife and other topics.

NEW ORLEANS (AP) — Former first lady Michelle Obama will discuss her upcoming memoir “Becoming” as she kicks off the American Library Association’s annual conference in New Orleans. Librarian of Congress Dr. Carla Hayden will moderate a conversation Friday with Obama at the city’s convention center.

Obama’s book chronicles the experiences that have shaped her, from her childhood on the South Side of Chicago to her years as an executive and her time at the White House.

Store employee accused of making bomb threat

An employee at the Jennings Walmart was booked just after midnight Friday for allegedly making a bomb threat to the store.

Tyler Lantier, 25, of Estherwood is charged with terrorizing.

Around 6:45 p.m. Thursday, management at the store notified the Jeff Davis Parish Sheriff’s Office and the Jennings Police Department that someone had written “bomb in the store” on the wall of one of the restrooms, Jennings interim police chief Danny Semmes said. As per protocol during a bomb threat, the store was evacuated.
