LAKE ARTHUR - Funeral services for Mr. Rodney John Roche, 91, of Lake Arthur will be held Friday, Sept. 27, 2019, at 11 a.m. in Our Lady of the Lake Catholic Church, with Rev. Jay Alexius officiating.

Visitation for Mr. Roche will be held Thursday, Sept. 26, 2019, in the Lake Arthur chapel from 2-9 p.m. A Rosary will be recited at 6 p.m. Visitation will resume Friday from 8 a.m. until the time of service.

Burial will follow in St. Anthony Cemetery under the direction of Miguez Funeral Home.

In the article written about the upcoming Stearman Fly-in, it was reported that there would be no admission to enter the Louisiana Oil and Gas Park, where food, drinks and T-shirts would be on sale. Although spectators can watch the planes from the park, the concessions and shirts will be sold at the Jennings Airport.

Foot pursuit leads to arrests

The driver of a white Kia Sorrento is currently in custody at the regional jail after fleeing on foot from deputies during a routine traffic stop.

On Sept. 19, Jeff Davis Sheriff’s Office (JDSO) Chief Deputy Chris Ivey said deputies on patrol pulled the vehicle over for a traffic violation at around 7 p.m. in the Superfoods parking lot on West Plaquemine Street.

“The driver sped away as the deputy was exiting his unit and a pursuit was initiated,” Ivey said. “The pursuit lasted over 10 minutes and travelled nearly eight miles before stopping on La. 102.

Authorities: Truck stop camel sits on woman who then bites

GROSSE TETE (AP) — Authorities in Louisiana say a camel at a truck stop petting zoo sat on a woman after she crawled into its enclosure.

Iberville Parish Sheriff’s officials told The Advocate on Sunday that the Florida woman’s husband had been throwing treats to their dog under the camel’s fence. Their dog went into the enclosure and the woman crawled under barbed wire to retrieve the pet.

That’s when the 600-pound (272-kilogram) camel sat on her. She told deputies she bit the camel to free herself. The woman was brought to a hospital.

NASHVILLE -- Joe Burrow and the fourthranked LSU Football team continued to set records and put up video-game numbers, as the Tigers defeated Vanderbilt, 66-38, on Saturday afternoon.

LSU (4-0, 1-0 SEC) scored its most points against a conference opponent in regulation in school history, as Burrow and wide receiver Ja’Marr Chase torched Vanderbilt (0-3, 0-2 SEC).
