No Brees, no problem: Bridgewater, Saints top Seahawks 33-27

SEATTLE (AP) — Teddy Bridgewater wanted to stay composed. He wanted to remain calm and in control while taking over for the next several weeks with the New Orleans Saints’ leader, Drew Brees, sidelined with injury.

But emotions can often be tricky to control. And in the moments before making his first meaningful start since the 2015 playoffs, they all hit Bridgewater.

“I was thinking about the process from the time I was injured up until now and just thinking about all the ones who believed in me and just being back on this stage,” Bridgewater said.

NASHVILLE -- Joe Burrow and the fourthranked LSU Football team continued to set records and put up video-game numbers, as the Tigers defeated Vanderbilt, 66-38, on Saturday afternoon.

LSU (4-0, 1-0 SEC) scored its most points against a conference opponent in regulation in school history, as Burrow and wide receiver Ja’Marr Chase torched Vanderbilt (0-3, 0-2 SEC).

IOTA - The Iota Bulldogs scored touchdowns on all five of their first half possessions here Friday night to claim a 42-7 win over the visiting Lake Arthur Tigers. Iota remains perfect at 3-0 with the win, while the Tigers drop to 1-2 with the loss.

Big plays lift Loreauville over Indians 48-20

ELTON – The Elton Indians fell to 0-3 here Friday night by dropping a 48-20 decision to the Loreauville Tigers at Cleve Beard Stadium. The visiting Tigers built a 28-0 second quarter lead before Elton’s Delrion Frank chopped the lead to 28-8 going into the halftime intermission.

Lucas Street overlay in progress

Crews are currently working on rebuilding the drainage and asphalt overlay on Lucas Street between May and Lucy streets.

This week work crews removed the deteriorating drainage from the subsurface and installed new drainage structures. The portion of Lucas Street between May and Lucy streets is being totally rebuilt, according to Jennings Mayor Henry Guinn, including replacing aging subsurface drainage, soil stabilization, new concrete curbs and asphalt overlay.

ELTON - Louisiana Governor John Bel. Edwards recently declared Monday, October 14, 2019 as Indigenous Peoples’ Day. The Coushatta Tribe of Louisiana commends Governor Edwards and

thanks him for his efforts to support Native Americans in Louisiana.

Officials: Homecoming vandalism not tolerated

As students across the parish celebrate the Homecoming season, authorities would like to remind the public that vandalism will not be tolerated.

Tagging is the act of toilet-papering a classmate’s home or yard, however oftentimes, students take it too far.

Police Chief Danny Semmes said that vandalizing and damaging vehicles or people’s property is a crime and violators will be prosecuted.

Jackets fly by Greyhounds

WELSH-Quarterback Gene Natali threw two second-half touchdown passes to carry the Iowa Yellow Jackets to a 14-11 win over the Welsh Greyhounds in a rain-soaked battle here Thursday night. With the win, the Yellow Jackets move to 2-1 for the season, while the Greyhounds fall to 1-2.

Both quarterbacks had a tough night throwing the pigskin, as they combined to complete only 11 passes on 43 attempts with three interceptions. In spite of this, all of the touchdowns scored in the contest came on pass completions.
