Civil Defense hospital rate plan outlined

Mayor John L. Conner today outlined proposed rates of contributions from parish municipalities and the police jury for financing the storage building for the 200-bed emergency Civil Defense hospital.

The Civil Defense hospital will be shipped when the storage is provided. It will contain all beds, linens, medicines, and equipment necessary to operate a 200-bed hospital.

Dodgers manager Dave Roberts ejected vs Rockies

LOS ANGELES (AP) — Los Angeles manager Dave Roberts has been ejected from the Dodgers’ game against the Colorado Rockies.

He was tossed for arguing balls and strikes in the fourth inning Friday night by home plate umpire Greg Gibson. Roberts ran out from the dugout and had an animated exchange with Gibson and then first base umpire CB Bucknor.

Bench coach Bob Geren took over with the Dodgers trailing the Rockies 4-2.

It was Roberts’ first ejection of the season.

Wounded Saints face unbeaten Seahawks in early NFC showdown

SEATTLE (AP) — In his 13 seasons in charge New Orleans coach Sean Payton has always had one constant by his side.

Nearly every game. Nearly every snap. It’s almost always been Drew Brees on the other end of the receiver, listening to what Payton is saying, and for the most part tormenting opponents.

And now Brees is gone for an undetermined time after surgery to repair an injured ligament near his right thumb. It’s a test Payton’s never faced, being without Brees for an extended period. It begins on Sunday when the Saints face fellow NFC contender Seattle.

Jackets fly by Greyhounds

WELSH-Quarterback Gene Natali threw two second-half touchdown passes to carry the Iowa Yellow Jackets to a 14-11 win over the Welsh Greyhounds in a rain-soaked battle here Thursday night. With the win, the Yellow Jackets move to 2-1 for the season, while the Greyhounds fall to 1-2.

Both quarterbacks had a tough night throwing the pigskin, as they combined to complete only 11 passes on 43 attempts with three interceptions. In spite of this, all of the touchdowns scored in the contest came on pass completions.

Tigers Fall to Undefeated Bulldogs 48-7

DERIDDER WEARS DOWN BULLDOGS 21-6

The DeRidder Dragons used a prolific offense and a stingy defense to trudge past the Jennings Bulldogs by a final of 21-6 on a soggy Jerry Simmons Stadium turf Friday night. With the win, the Dragons improved to 2-1, while the Dogs dropped to 0-3, with all three defeats coming at the hands of Class 4A schools.

DA lists recent convictions

District Attorney Michael C. Cassidy announced the following convictions recently obtained during the criminal petit jury Sept. 16 session in the 31st District Judicial District Court in Jennings.

Jane E. Doucet

Memorial services for Mrs. Jane E. Doucet, 54, of Jennings will be held Tuesday, Sept. 24, 2019, at 11 a.m. in St. Luke’s Episcopal Church, with Rev. John Clark officiating.

Visitation for Mrs. Doucet will begin at 9 a.m. at the church and continue until service time.

A lifelong resident of Jennings, she worked as a dental assistant. Jane was a loving wife, mother and grandmother. She especially enjoyed gardening and spending long summer days outdoors.
